Online consultation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">While  political momentum on a green economy is now gathering pace there are  still some important concerns regarding the meaning and consequences of a  transition, particularly for the world&#8217;s poorest. As governments begin  to identify opportunities and policy frameworks at the national level it  is critical that their decision-making processes are guided by a common  set of goals, an agreed set of principles, for what a green economy  must uphold.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">With these concerns in mind, Major Groups and stakeholders gathered at the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.unep.org\/gc\/gcss-xii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UNEP Governing Council<\/a> to draft<a href=\"http:\/\/greeneconomycoalition.org\/sites\/greeneconomycoalition.org\/files\/9%20Principles%20for%20a%20green%20economy%20%28DRAFT%20for%20CONSULTATION%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <strong>9 principles of a green economy<\/strong><\/a>. The consultation was informed directly by the work of ITUC, ANPED, Stakeholder Forum\/Bioregional, the Earth Charter, ICC, the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.greeneconomycoalition.org\/document\/developing-country-stakeholders-have-their-say-synthesis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Green Economy Coalition national dialogues<\/a>, and over thirty other organisations present.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">The  9 principles have generated a lot of interest from governments. They  have also proved really helpful for defining a common understanding and  vision of a green economy among a range of different perspectives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">To build on the momentum and take this process to the next level in time for Rio+20, we are launching an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/s\/LB9Q3GW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">open consultation<\/a> on these draft principles for your comment and feedback. This&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/s\/LB9Q3GW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online consultation<\/a> will stay open until<strong> 15th March,<\/strong> at  which point we will gather all of the feedback into a next draft that  we will present at the Global Transition Dialogue in New York for the  next Rio+20 inter-sessional.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">The consultation should take no more than 10 minutes of your time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">We need your voice. We need your expertise.
