Twenty-one<\/z> private<\/z> enterprises<\/z> from<\/z> China<\/z> will<\/z> join<\/z> in<\/z> China<\/z> Going<\/z> Green<\/z> Dialogues<\/z> as<\/z> a<\/z> part<\/z>of<\/z> the<\/z> 2012 UN<\/z> Conference<\/z> on<\/z> Sustainable<\/z> Development<\/z>, known<\/z> as<\/z> Rio<\/z>+20, that<\/z> will<\/z> come<\/z> in<\/z>June<\/z> in<\/z> Rio<\/z> De<\/z> Janeiro<\/z>, Brazil<\/z>.<\/z><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The<\/z> Chinese<\/z> enterprises<\/z> – including<\/z> real<\/z> estate<\/z> giants<\/z> such<\/z> as<\/z> Vanke<\/z> and<\/z> Vantone<\/z>, Esquel<\/z>Group<\/z> from<\/z> the<\/z> textile<\/z> industry<\/z> in<\/z> Hong<\/z> Kong<\/z>, and<\/z> the<\/z> community<\/z> supported<\/z> organic<\/z> farm<\/z> Little<\/z>Donkey<\/z> in<\/z> Beijing<\/z> – were<\/z> selected<\/z> by<\/z> the<\/z> SEE<\/z> Foundation<\/z>, Shan<\/z> Shui<\/z> Conservation<\/z> Center<\/z> and<\/z>Greenovation<\/z> Hub<\/z>, all<\/z> active<\/z> environmental<\/z> NGOs<\/z> in<\/z> China<\/z>.<\/z><\/p>\n

Hosted<\/z> by<\/z> the<\/z> United<\/z> Nations<\/z> Environment<\/z> Programme<\/z>, the<\/z> China<\/z> Going<\/z> Green<\/z> Dialogues<\/z> are<\/z>a<\/z> series<\/z> of<\/z> events<\/z> that<\/z> will<\/z> answer<\/z> the<\/z> call<\/z> for<\/z> a<\/z> global<\/z> revolution<\/z> toward<\/z> green<\/z> and<\/z> sustainable<\/z>development<\/z> models<\/z>. The<\/z> events<\/z> are<\/z> expected<\/z> to<\/z> fuel<\/z> substantive<\/z> breakthroughs<\/z> in<\/z> supply<\/z>chain<\/z> management<\/z>, greenhouse<\/z> gas<\/z> quantification<\/z>, eco-friendly<\/z> technology<\/z> and<\/z> clean<\/z>manufacturing<\/z>.<\/z><\/p>\n

At<\/z> the<\/z> Rio<\/z>+20 Conference<\/z>, world<\/z> leaders<\/z> and<\/z> thousands<\/z> of<\/z> participants<\/z> from<\/z> governments<\/z>, the<\/z>private<\/z> sector<\/z>, NGOs<\/z> and<\/z> other<\/z> groups<\/z> will<\/z> come<\/z> together<\/z> to<\/z> make<\/z> plans<\/z> to<\/z> reduce<\/z> poverty<\/z>,advance<\/z> social<\/z> equity<\/z> and<\/z> ensure<\/z> environmental<\/z> protection<\/z> with<\/z> the<\/z> aim<\/z> of<\/z> securing<\/z> a<\/z> livable<\/z>future<\/z> on<\/z> the<\/z> ever<\/z> more<\/z> crowded<\/z> planet<\/z>.<\/z><\/p>\n

Representatives<\/z> from<\/z> the<\/z> UN<\/z> and<\/z> international<\/z> and<\/z> Chinese<\/z> NGOs<\/z> will<\/z> join<\/z> some<\/z> of<\/z> China<\/z>‘s<\/z>key<\/z> enterprise<\/z> leaders<\/z> in<\/z> a<\/z> number<\/z> of<\/z> forums<\/z> on<\/z> June<\/z> 17 and<\/z> 18 at<\/z> Rio<\/z>+20.<\/z><\/p>\n

Discussions<\/z> will<\/z> offer<\/z> a<\/z> view<\/z> on<\/z> the<\/z> present<\/z> and<\/z> future<\/z> state<\/z> of<\/z> green<\/z> economies<\/z> in<\/z> China<\/z>.<\/z><\/p>\n

Sun<\/z> Shan<\/z>, executive<\/z> director<\/z> of<\/z> Shan<\/z> Shui<\/z> Conservation<\/z> Center<\/z>, said<\/z>: “The<\/z> growth<\/z> of<\/z> China<\/z>‘s<\/z>green<\/z> economies<\/z> has<\/z> just<\/z> started<\/z>. We<\/z> hope<\/z> Rio<\/z>+20 will<\/z> offer<\/z> the<\/z> international<\/z> community<\/z> a<\/z>window<\/z> into<\/z> how<\/z> China<\/z> is<\/z> taking<\/z> action<\/z> from<\/z> the<\/z> ground<\/z> up<\/z>.”<\/z><\/p>\n

Simultaneously<\/z>, the<\/z> events<\/z> will<\/z> profile<\/z> the<\/z> diversity<\/z> of<\/z> Chinese<\/z> grassroots<\/z> organizations<\/z> in<\/z> their<\/z>20 years<\/z> of<\/z> development<\/z>, as<\/z> well<\/z> as<\/z> the<\/z> innovative<\/z> green<\/z> practices<\/z> that<\/z> are<\/z> emerging<\/z> out<\/z> of<\/z>China<\/z>‘s<\/z> economic<\/z> and<\/z> social<\/z> growth<\/z>.<\/z><\/p>\n

An<\/z> increasing<\/z> number<\/z> of<\/z> companies<\/z> are<\/z> taking<\/z> interest<\/z> in<\/z> Rio<\/z>+20 and<\/z> looking<\/z> for<\/z> ways<\/z> to<\/z>deliver<\/z> their<\/z> commitment<\/z> to<\/z> help<\/z> China<\/z> go<\/z> green<\/z>. Rio<\/z>+20 will<\/z> present<\/z> an<\/z> opportunity<\/z> for<\/z>Chinese<\/z> businesses<\/z> and<\/z> entrepreneurs<\/z> to<\/z> exchange<\/z> experiences<\/z> with<\/z> peers<\/z> from<\/z> around<\/z> the<\/z>world<\/z>, to<\/z> share<\/z> expectations<\/z> of<\/z> and<\/z> a<\/z> mutual<\/z> faith<\/z> towards<\/z> the<\/z> future<\/z> of<\/z> green<\/z> economies<\/z>.<\/z><\/p>\n

Taking<\/z> the<\/z> theme<\/z> “Green<\/z> Economy<\/z>“, Rio<\/z>+20 aims<\/z> to<\/z> hasten<\/z> a<\/z> global<\/z> revolution<\/z> in<\/z> economic<\/z>development<\/z>. UN<\/z> Secretary-General<\/z> Ban<\/z> Ki-moon<\/z> has<\/z> called<\/z> it<\/z> “one<\/z> of<\/z> the<\/z> most<\/z> important<\/z>conferences<\/z> in<\/z> the<\/z> history<\/z> of<\/z> the<\/z> United<\/z> Nations<\/z>“.<\/z><\/p>\n

The<\/z> first<\/z> UN<\/z> Conference<\/z> on<\/z> Environment<\/z> and<\/z> Development<\/z> held<\/z> in<\/z> 1992 in<\/z> Rio<\/z> – from<\/z> there<\/z>,the<\/z> name<\/z> Rio<\/z>+20 – made<\/z> great<\/z> strides<\/z> in<\/z> initiating<\/z> dialogue<\/z> on<\/z> how<\/z> to<\/z> tackle<\/z> the<\/z> degradation<\/z> of<\/z>the<\/z> environment<\/z>. It<\/z> was<\/z> at<\/z> that<\/z> conference<\/z> that<\/z> the<\/z> concept<\/z> “sustainable<\/z> development<\/z>” was<\/z>proposed<\/z>.<\/z><\/p>\n

In<\/z> 1992, China<\/z> sent<\/z> a<\/z> government<\/z> delegation<\/z> to<\/z> participate<\/z> in<\/z> the<\/z> conference<\/z>. Now<\/z> Chinese<\/z>NGOs<\/z> will<\/z> represent<\/z> the<\/z> new<\/z> face<\/z> of<\/z> the<\/z> country<\/z> at<\/z> Rio<\/z>+20, which<\/z> will<\/z> be<\/z> the<\/z> first<\/z> global<\/z> summit<\/z>on<\/z> sustainable<\/z> development<\/z> attended<\/z> by<\/z> Chinese<\/z> entrepreneurs<\/z>.<\/z><\/p>\n

In<\/z> addition<\/z>, China<\/z>‘s<\/z> rapidly<\/z> growing<\/z> philanthropic<\/z> sector<\/z> and<\/z> non-public<\/z> funding<\/z> foundations<\/z>are<\/z> bringing<\/z> more<\/z> possibilities<\/z> for<\/z> Chinese<\/z> NGOs<\/z> to<\/z> engage<\/z> in<\/z> environmental<\/z> issues<\/z> and<\/z>expand<\/z> their<\/z> partnership<\/z> with<\/z> the<\/z> corporate<\/z> sector<\/z>.<\/z><\/p>\n

“Our<\/z> purpose<\/z> is<\/z> not<\/z> only<\/z> to<\/z> learn<\/z>, but<\/z> also<\/z> to<\/z> give<\/z> something<\/z> back<\/z>, to<\/z> step<\/z> onto<\/z> this<\/z> global<\/z>stage<\/z> at<\/z> Rio<\/z> and<\/z> carry<\/z> home<\/z>, back<\/z> to<\/z> China<\/z>, a<\/z> commitment<\/z>,” said<\/z> Feng<\/z> Lun<\/z>, chairman<\/z> of<\/z>Vantone<\/z>, also<\/z> chairman<\/z> of<\/z> SEE<\/z> Foundation<\/z>, pledging<\/z> that<\/z> the<\/z> foundation<\/z> would<\/z>, in<\/z> next<\/z> five<\/z>years<\/z>, help<\/z> 500 environmental<\/z> NGOs<\/z> with<\/z> no<\/z> less<\/z> than<\/z> 500 million<\/z> yuan<\/z> ($78.8 million<\/z>).<\/z><\/p>\n
