{"id":1279,"date":"2012-06-20T13:53:16","date_gmt":"2012-06-20T13:53:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/earthsummit2012.stakeholderforum.org\/2012\/06\/20\/sustainable-development\/"},"modified":"2012-06-20T13:53:16","modified_gmt":"2012-06-20T13:53:16","slug":"sustainable-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/earthsummit2012.stakeholderforum.org\/index.php\/sustainable-development\/","title":{"rendered":"Rio+20: Draft outcome on sustainable development signed-off"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The draft agreement for the Rio+20 summit on sustainable development has been signed off by negotiators.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ministers and heads of state arrive tomorrow to discuss, adapt and sign-off the proposals.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement was rushed through at the beginning of the plenary with almost no discussion observers have said.<\/p>\n<p>The document,&nbsp;<a title=\"The Guardian has obtained the text\" href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/environment\/2012\/jun\/19\/rio-20-future-we-want-draft-text?CMP=twt_gu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available here<\/a>, has also left environmental and development groups dissatisfied.<\/p>\n<p>WWF Director General Jim Leape said: \u201cDespite a late night negotiating session, the revised text is a colossal failure of leadership and vision from diplomats. They should be embarrassed at their inability to find common ground on such a crucial issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow it\u2019s up to world leaders to get serious about sustainable development and save this process.
