{"id":337,"date":"2010-11-04T12:19:29","date_gmt":"2010-11-04T12:19:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/earthsummit2012.stakeholderforum.org\/2010\/11\/04\/unep-green-econ-report\/"},"modified":"2010-11-04T12:19:29","modified_gmt":"2010-11-04T12:19:29","slug":"unep-green-econ-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/earthsummit2012.stakeholderforum.org\/index.php\/unep-green-econ-report\/","title":{"rendered":"UNEP report on Green Economy and MDGs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a report published on 20 September 2010, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) underlines how shifting to a green economy can support progress towards  achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A Brief for Policymakers on the Green Economy and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), advocates that investing in clean energy, sustainable transport, forests and environmentally-friendly agriculture is essential, if internationally-agreed goals to reduce poverty are to be achieved.<\/p>\n<p>The report &#8211; compiled by UNEP&#8217;s Green Economy team &#8211; cites numerous cases where green strategies are paying multiple dividends in respect to the eight MDGs.<\/p>\n<p>The Green Economy initiative was launched in 2008 by UNEP.
