The United Nations (UN) and Stakeholders from various government agencies are holding a thorough review of a concept
document on how development can be sustainable in post conflict countries. <\/p>\n

The thorough review process, which kicked off Wednesday in Paynesville City, outside Monrovia, is part of a two-day consultation workshop. Officials said the concept document will also be used by Liberia when she represents other post conflict countries at the pending UN Sustainable Development Conference. The conference is scheduled for early 2012 in Rio, Brazil, South America. <\/p>\n
The two-day consultation workshop is also aimed at building capacity to utilize sustainable development principles in national policy making in Liberia. <\/p>\n
The workshop is organized by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Affairs and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia with support from the UN Development Program (UNDP) and other UN agencies. <\/p>\n
Speaking during the opening secession on November 30, 2011, at the RLJ Hotel and Resort, EPA Deputy Executive Director, Nathaniel T. Blama Sr., said the stakeholders attending the workshop will look at sustainable development in the context the pending UN Sustainable Development Conference.<\/p>\n
“Basically, we will be looking at the concept and issue of sustainable development, how we can make development sustainable. Liberia was selected among few pilot countries to look at the development pathway of post war countries,” he said.<\/em><\/p>\n
