The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development \u2013 Rio+20 – is being jointly convened by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the Brazilian Government.  The conference will seek to secure meaningful commitments on achieving sustainable development at the highest level, although it has already run into trouble with the preparations for the event marred by disagreement. This summit offers a once in a decade opportunity for States, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, as well as civil society to take bold steps towards redefining the relationship that humans have with the natural world and how humans see themselves in the world.  The issues of resource exploitation and scarcity, planetary and natural systems boundaries, as well as the negative impacts of irresponsible human activity that are already rippling throughout the world, will pervade the discussions and final negotiations at the conference.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peter Roderick<\/strong>, legal consultant to WWF, and Kate Raworth<\/strong> from Oxfam on the limits to planetary boundaries work<\/p>\n

Steve Waygood<\/strong><\/span> , from Aviva, on the proposed Convention on Corporate Sustainability<\/p>\n

Emily Benson<\/strong><\/span> , Green Economy Coalition<\/p>\n

Chaired by <\/span> Tim Clare<\/strong> of WSP Environment and Energy.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.5 CPD points will be available for all attending.<\/span><\/p>\n

There will be a small contribution to cover costs at \u00a325 for Members and \u00a335 for Non-members. Students and Unwaged members are free. Your booking is not confirmed until payment has been received. If you book but don\u2019t let us know you can\u2019t attend before the event we will chase you for payment as every booking incurs costs.<\/span><\/p>\n
