UNEP Governing Council to release Ministerial Declaration

The 11th Special Session of the UNEP Governing Council and Global Ministerial Environment Forum is to issue a Ministerial Declaration in addition to the usual summary of the Ministerial Discussions.

The declaration has been proposed by the President of the Governing Council 2010, Mr. Oliver Dulić, Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning of Serbia, and a draft has been jointly proposed by the Governments of Serbia and Indonesia, the hosts of the Governing Council and GMEF.
A number of drafts of the Ministerial Declaration, now referred to as the Nusa Dua Declaration, have been circulated to governments and accredited organizations to UNEP, though they are not available to the wider general public. The latest draft of the Declaration circulated on 12th January welcomed the decision to host a UN Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012 highlighting the role of UNEP Governing Council in contributing to the preparatory process.

A final version of the Declaration will be posted on the Earth Summit website when it has been released.
