High-Level Panel’s first meeting
The Global Sustainability Panel’s first meeting was held on 19 September 2010 at the UN Headquarters in New York, which saw members of the Panel outline a common vision and programme of work for the next 15 months.
The role of the Panel is to exchange ideas and generate discussion on key sustainability issues, with a focus on questions relating to population growth, poverty, energy, food, water, natural resource use and climate change.
Introducing the Panel’s first meeting, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stressed the importance of the ’50-50-50′ challenge and urged Panel members to discuss practical ways for countries to develop in a sustainable manner.
