Scottish stakeholders respond to the Secretary General’s Questionnaire on the Green Economy
Stakeholder Forum in partnership with the Scottish Sustainable Development Forum (SSDF), a division of the Sustainable Development Commission (SDC) Scotland, hosted multi-stakeholder dialogues to identify and discuss key issues and priorities in relation to a green economy. The discussions took place on 21st September 2010 and addressed the Secretary General’s Questionnaire on this thematic area for Earth Summit 2012.
Stakeholder Forum compiled these responses into a multi-stakeholder submission – which can be found here – to feed into the preparatory process.
The conference heard contributions from Maurice Strong, former Secretary General of the 1992 Rio Earth Summit; Felix Dodds, Executive Director of Stakeholder Forum; Belinda Miller, Specialist Advisor on Renewable Energy to the Department of UK Trade and Investment; and Ruth Davis, Chief Policy Advisor to Greenpeace UK.
Following these addresses, Stakeholder Forum’s Hannah Stoddart and Nicola Williams hosted a workshop in which attendees were able to discuss the elements of and discourses on the green economy and provide a response to the Secretary General’s questions. The collection of these responses was submitted to the United Nations to inform the preparatory process toward Earth Summit 2012 and was also sent as an appendix with the UK government’s response to the Secretary General’s Questionnaire.
